It doesn't take much to get Ray Lewis going -- and going and going. When a reporter last week suggested that Lewis and some of the veterans on his Baltimore Ravens team might be getting close to the end of the road, the future shoo-in Hall of Famer took exception. "You look around the league and I hear you guys talk about, 'You know, you don't have a lot of time left,'" said Lewis, his passion coming through on a speakerphone as much as it does on the football field.
On Sunday, the two future Hall of Famers will meet for only the third time in their careers when the Vikings play host to the Ravens (Favre led the Packers to victories in 1998 and 2001). Favre had already played five seasons in the NFL when Lewis was drafted by the Ravens in the first round in 1996. Of course, that still means Lewis is in his 14th season. Perhaps that's why he understands why Favre can't give up the game that both of them love.
East: Tom Brady, QB, Patriots The Pats did pretty darn well winning 11 games without him last year. But they also went 16-0 with him the year before. So he's still the man. He's also 32 and coming off his first major injury. And getting hitched to Gisele Bundchen probably qualifies as a terrible distraction. Poor fella.
An open letter to Ray Lewis, middle linebacker, Baltimore Ravens: Dear Ray, This is a word of advice from a loyal Baltimore Ravens fan: Shut up and play.
Don't forget those that were lucky enough to get off such as Ray Lewis and, everyone's favorite, O.J. Simpson.
