If this involves a Segway or an iPad I'm going to be very disappointed.
The company didn't even mention it for nearly a month, and only said something once rumors started spreading, and then the blog post they put up about it gives very little in the way of detail. They don't even mention the company's name:
Segway Inc. is pleased to announce that in connection with a merger that occurred on December 24, 2009, Segway was acquired by a company that is based in the United Kingdom. The acquiring company is backed by Jimi Heselden, a prominent U.K. businessman and the Chairman of Hesco Bastion. Mr. Heselden is also an investor in the independently owned Segway U.K. distributorship.
The company also got some funding (and lost its latest in a long, long, long line of CEOs), but in an interview with the local paper, Dean Kamen admits that he doesn't even know who the new investor is.
So I am sure the iPad will be at least a modest success, even in its initial incarnation. But you know what it feels like to me with it

Yes, at a mall. You will most likely know that this is a big no-no. To get this picture, I approached him and of course he explained I better put my camera away as it is against the policy to take photos. I knew that, but he was very kind and allowed me to take a photo of *himself* - this was great, thank you so much! BTW I would never fire away on strangers... I am glad I asked and it turned out really good for me.
This brought up some interesting questions I do not yet have fully answered, maybe you have some explanations/answers:
- I heard one can get a photo permit at the administration offices of Malls, etc. Has anyone ever done that? Will this allow you to use the photos commercially then?
- is all photography forbidden? I mean there are probably hundreds of people firing away with their camera phones this moment at malls in the US. So... are just candid photos of strangers forbidden?
- especially when it comes to photographing your own children in the Mall's playground - I cannot believe this is against the rules.
